Getting to the 2019 Warrant Year in Review
It’s almost time for THE YEAR IN REVIEW.
I’ve already started getting emails from various services about their Best, Number One, Most Favoritest Stock of 2020.
Hold off guys, I want to see all of my Year in Review Stuff first. The best movies of 2019. The best books of 2019. The best foods of 2019. The best wines of 2019.
One of my favorite year in review columns is done by Dave Barry. His tongue in cheek reviews spare no one and are laugh out loud funny every single year.
So, this year, I thought I would celebrate the first year of The Warrant Observer with a Year in Review of the best warrant trades. Not as funny as Dave Barry, but maybe more profitable?
This has been a spectacular year for warrants, and I’ve already started putting together my “best of” picks. It’s honestly hard to choose from not only the great trades, but the variety of types of trades that were available.
But I don’t want to put together just a “what’ review list. What warrant had the biggest one day pop? What was the best warrant to trade all year? What warrant went up the most?
That’s cool and all, but this is going to be a year in review list to use going forward. It’s a “How To” list based on what we’ve seen this past year. (Or, in consultant speak, if we must go there, I’m putting together a book of case studies to guide our trading in 2020.)
I think this will be super useful to anyone trading warrants, as we’re not only going to get more of the same in 2020 as we did in 2019. I believe we’re going to get MORE, and MORE, and MORE of the same.
If you think 50% overnight trades and over 100% couple of week to couple of month trades were fun, just wait.
If the warrant market were to literally stop today, no more warrants, and no more SPACs with warrants, issued for the next year, 2020 would STILL be one of the best warrant years ever. Just with the warrants and SPAC warrants that are already trading.
Oh, and did I mention 2019 was ANOTHER record year for SPACs going public. And, you know it, every one of those has a warrant with it. Think we hit ANOTHER record in 2020? Wouldn’t be surprised.
So, look for an announcement of the How to Attack the Warrant Market in 2020 to Make Even More Profit Than You Did (Could Have) in 2019, book. It’s a working title.
It won’t be cheap, and it’s only for warrant traders looking to take action. I don’t want a single “I just missed it” to go by anyone who reads this How To guide.
And speaking of just missed, if you blinked you may have missed the Kaleyra (KLR, KLRW) warrants jumping over 105% this morning to touch $1.50.
This had been touched on in the Warrant Watchlist since they were GigCapital warrants, trading under the symbol GIGWS. (Kaleyra has decided to do warrant holders a solid and give them more money for their warrants, thus the pop today. And the continuation of a rising trend I’ll address in my Warrant Year in Review analysis.)
I suggested to paid Warrant Observer members that they get into these in the high 30 cent range. In an email a little over a week ago I said I was taking my 110% profit, as I believed negative China news at the time would keep a lid on the warrants/stock.
But, I also said this is because I am very risk averse in my trading, and that if you wanted to hold them it was likely a good play.
Warrant Observer member Alex emailed me this morning, after the 105% pop saying, yeah, it was a good play.
So, how did I spot that one as a good play at $.38, that then rose 295% in less than 3 months? Let me get to that year in review…
